Petite Fashion Challenge #16: Summer Wedding

May 30, 2012

This month's PFC is hosted by Petite on a Penny.

I love weddings because it's a great excuse to dress up and bring out some fancy duds, so for me it was really tough trying to meet a $100 budget! I decided not to go for any bonus points, and wanted to make a statement without being too flashy.

I recently attended a wedding in early May and went back and forth on whether I wanted to wear this sequined nude/gold dress that's been in my closet for over a year. Went with my gut and decided to wear it because I absolutely love this dress! No jewelry, and kept everything to a minimum because the sequins speak for themselves! Up close, the dress has a leopard print and I love that it is a shift style, and quite comfortable.

I think Alice + Olivia dresses can work really well on petites, depending on the style. It can get pricey, but I have a couple of them and they are worth the investment because I didn't have to get them altered. They are fun but can also be quite classic, and not too overly-trendy.

Thanks for reading!

  2. This dress is gorgeous! Every once in a while I browse ShopBop and look at all the pretty Alice + Olivia dresses but as you said, they are quite pricey. I think it would be a good investment though.

  5. Pretty look! I think the neutral color palette of the outfit especially the dress help tone it down for a wedding. Have a great day :)

  8. Hey, you asked on a previous PFC challenge of mine about how I stay tan. And I just wanted to make sure you get my answer ;) When I go to my nail shop without having gotten a spray tan the women there swoon about how lovely it is that I can "get so white" so quickly. It's funny because as they gush about how white and see-through my skin naturally is I am constantly mortified because I wish I were naturally tan! Anyway, the sun and me are not friends and I do not want to up cancer chances with a tanning bed so I get spray tans. To me, getting someone who applies the spray tan on you is best to ensure even application and they can customize the color for what you want. Have you ever tried it?

    1. I did, thanks!! I'll have to try to find a good spray tanner! Never tried it before, and I really want to take care of my skin too, so I've always relied on the lotions during the summer. I just really hate the smell of the tanning lotions!
