Shona Joy is an Australian brand that I discovered last year. I love their bold prints and interesting silhouettes. For a wedding I went to this past weekend, I chose this draped maxi dress from Revolve Clothing. I love the turquoise and black print, and the midi length is perfect for a petite gal like me. The strategic draping provided comfort and easy movement, perfect for a summer wedding which always involves a TON of food and lots of dancing. It's so versatile; I wore it earlier this year during my vacation to Puerto Rico. You might've seen it on my Instagram @snapsofmycloset. Be sure to follow for more outfit snaps!
I paired it with nude-pink Saint Laurent Tribute platform sandals, which was one of the first designer shoes purchases I made after I had been working full-time for about a year. Investing in high quality and classic pieces is totally worth it; once you have your eyes set on something, research it online before taking the plunge. I made sure I truly loved the style, color, fit, and versatility. Ask yourself, "Am I really going to wear this, or am I buying it because I see it on red carpets and in fashion pictures?" If you're honest with yourself and know you're going to wear something in real life, then check out all the options you have to buy online, such as Saks, Nordstrom (which is where I got my pair), or Barneys. If you live near one of those stores, be sure to try it on in person. It totally stinks when you order a really expensive shoe only to find out the size you chose doesn't fit, and then you have to go through the whole process of returning and ordering another size. If you can't try it on in person, don't be afraid to reach out to bloggers for advice, which is what I do! That's always helped me choose a size or color for a big designer purchase.
