Since it's getting colder, I wore this over an old Zara white blouse that has blouson sleeves, which ended up feeling very '70s, aside from the dramatic flares of the jumpsuit of course. If you've got a jumpsuit sitting in your closet that's waiting six months to see the light of day, try pairing it over a neutral long-sleeve shirt or blouse to give it new life!
Since I'm petite, I had to wear towering platforms that are hidden by the flares, which I actually like. I think some of the biggest differences between the flares from this season and the ones from the 2000-era are that modern denim is all about deep vibrant blues, higher rises, and defined flares. Back then, low-rise denim were the most popular (thank you Britney Spears), along with sandblasted light blue colors and flares that had ripped in the back because you wore them long and they dragged on the street (I am guilty of this). I have to admit that while I was at first skeptical of the reintroduction of this seventies classic, I have really fallen in love with the updated cuts and shapes that flares have taken on. Almost makes me want to cleanse my closet of skinny jeans -- oh wait, better hang on to those, for when they make a "comeback" in 2025!
