The name Kelly Dempsey might sound familiar, and that's because she was a former contestant on season 14 of "Project Runway", where she landed runner-up. Kelly is the founder and creative force behind Rack Addik, an interpretation of the girl looking for fashion forward and eclectic street-wear that goes against the norm. Every model clad in bright and bubble-gum design motifs, not afraid to blow kisses at the crowd, the Rack Addik girl is energetic, fun, and highly confident.
The calm before the fun
The next day, I returned to Studio 450 to watch Marina Micanovic's take on modern and edgy contemporary womenswear. I absolutely loved her use of vibrant colors balanced out by neutral white and black. Models were sent down the runway featuring outfit trios, first in pink and white and evolving through the primary colors of black, yellow, and more white. My favorite color motif was black with accents of yellow – something unexpected yet is a refreshing burst of vibrancy that we can look forward to come springtime. Other details to notice – shredded tops and skirts that sashay with every move, as well as missing sleeves, meaning we can expect one-shoulder tops to replace the fatigue we may all be feeling with off-the-shoulder.
