If there is just one fall must-have item that I would recommend to add to your closet, it would be a high-quality, well-constructed leather jacket. IRO is a brand that fits just that, and I had been eyeing their jackets for many months before I finally went for it earlier this year after seeing this gorgeous light olive color at Saks. There is just something so thrilling about draping those tough yet buttery leather sleeves over your shoulders and how the seams nip the waist in just the right places. I'm sure you're thinking about how do you even justify shelling out a month's rent for a jacket, when you can get something similar from Forever 21, Zara, or H&M. And you totally can, as I often turn to Zara for their outerwear too, just like this black leather number that I adore. It's when I think about investment pieces and cost-per-wear, I know I am going to love this IRO jacket for countless more years than a faux version that just doesn't quite fit the way I want it to. And to be honest, if I've invested that much in a garment, you bet I'm going to take care of it like it's my own baby. With this outfit, I wore it to work with a striped black and white blouse, dark gray skinny jeans, and black mules. I think the "neutral-ness" of the light olive and almost gray shade works so well with basically everything I own, including a black maxi dress and cotton tees. Sizing tip for my fellow petite gals: IRO comes in European sizes, and I tried on both a 34 and 36 and ended up going for the 36 because the 34 was too tight in the shoulders (and I knew I wanted to layer with both tees and lightweight knits).
