Winter after winter, I always dread sweaters because they tend to be itchy, shapeless, and boring. I'm pretty picky about fabrication, because basically anything that's not cashmere drives my skin crazy (not to be uppity, but I have sensitive skin). One sweater that I've managed to wear over and over is this cropped one from Thakoon Addition. The fact that I have to layer it to appear presentable in the real world (I applaud whoever can pull off a cropped sweater on its own in 12-degree weather) solves the itchiness problem, and as a result creates an interesting hi-lo silhouette that was all the rage circa summer 2012. It's barely mid-January, and I'm pretty much sick of the cold already. There are only so many itchy sweaters, slouchy knit beanies, and camel coat-topped outfits I can take before I seriously contemplate hopping on a plane to Puerto Rico and hibernate until March. So until then, I will just complain about the wind tunnels and slushy sidewalks like every other New Yorker.
