What do you do for a living?
I toil away at an ad agency, managing creative projects and clients. Luckily, I can have some fun with my daily outfits by elevating ripped denim with black blazers, and incorporating a trend here and there.
Where are you from?
I'm originally from Pennsylvania, and moved to NYC to work in advertising. Everyone says you become a real New Yorker after ten years, and I'm more than halfway there.
Why do you have a fashion blog?
I started SNAPSHOTS OF MY CLOSET first as a creative outlet, which essentially grew into a visual diary of my personal style. Being able to create a snapshot of an outfit always marks a moment for me, and very literally, a snapshot in time.
How would you describe your style?
I love minimalistic designs that have an unexpected or edgy twist, structured classics in black, white, and neutral colors; in short - "simple sophistication". I also need to be able to dress functionally for my day job, and since I work in a casual environment, I can mix it up with skinny jeans and a studded blazer one day, or a denim skirt and camel heels another day. On the weekends I will have more fun with my outfits, depending on what I have planned. I am most comfortable in a great pair of distressed denim (any color - blue, gray, white!), a soft cotton tee, and a tailored blazer.
Who are your style icons and favorite designers?
Moving on from my sweats, hoodies, and Abercrombie jeans from college days was difficult. I remember turning to Monica Rose because even though she's most known for being the stylist for the Kardashian-Jenner clan, her personal style is effortless and super sophisticated, always mixing unexpected pieces and silhouettes together. When I first started blogging, I followed Aimee Song, because I love her California cool and laid-back style. I also adore Sheryl, from Walk in Wonderland, for being able to mix basics and trends together in a super chic way. For drawing inspiration from the runway, I love designers that have a distinct POV and directional design - Jonathan Simkhai, Helmut Lang, and Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia of Monse are a few of my faves.
Where do you like to shop?
I do the vast majority of my shopping online. I frequent sites like Revolve, Shopbop, and Asos for "visual research" and usually don't pull the trigger on something until I compare prices, read reviews, noodle on color options, etc. One of the best things about NYC is obviously the shopping, so if I see something I like, I can just go to the store and try something on. But in the end I usually buy things online because more size options are available.
Who takes your photos?
I partner with NYC-based photographers, as well as my better half.
How tall and what size are you?
5'2", usually a 0-2/XS-S in shirts, dresses, and skirts. 25/26 in jeans. 5.5/6 in shoes.
